Kathy Andres, DVM, ACVIM (Oncology) is a board certified veterinary oncologist at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center in San Diego, where she provides advanced cancer care for pets and supports their families through every stage of treatment.
Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Andres dreamed of becoming a veterinarian from an early age. She attended the University of Pennsylvania then moved to the West Coast and went to veterinary school at UC Davis. She completed her internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York and then completed her oncologist residency at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists. In between internship and residency Dr. Andres worked as a general practitioner and emergency veterinarian, adopted her daughter and took on too many DIY projects.
Dr. Andres enjoys all aspects of veterinary oncology, getting to know the pets, their owners and hearing their stories about their special bonds with each other. She is proud to have been oncologist to several generations of pets in the same families.
Dr. Andrea special interests are targeted and immune therapies for all types of oncologic diseases, pain control and explaining all the options to pet owners, increasing her patient's quality of life and keeping them happy and at home.
