Dr. Emily Westerback joined VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center in 2025 as a Criticalist. She completed her undergraduate studies at UMass Amherst in 2017, followed by earning her DVM from Midwestern University in 2021. After a rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital (2021-2022), Dr. Westerback specialized in critical care during her residency at Veterinary Specialty Hospital Sorrento Valley (2022-2025).
Dr. Westerback's clinical interests focus on sepsis and shock, fluid therapy and transfusion medicine, and cardiovascular physiology. Her approach to veterinary medicine is driven by a commitment to high-quality care, patient comfort, and a passion for teaching new veterinarians and technicians. She is excited to bring her expertise to VCA and contribute to the team's mission of providing exceptional care to animals in need.
