Shannon is from Alexandria, VA, and attended James Maddison University, where she studied English and Communications.
Shannon has been in the veterinary field since 1988. She was in the first graduation class for veterinary technology at TMCC in 2005. She has worked in general practices, specialty practices and emergency practices throughout Reno, Sparks and Lake Tahoe. In 2017, she obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialty certification in clinical practice (Canine and Feline) and, most recently, in Oncology. She has been a part of VCA Baring Boulevard for seven years.
Shannon loves the challenges that veterinary medicine has to offer and the ever-evolving aspect of the profession. Her special interest is in oncology, and most days you will find her doing just so at the VCA Wellness Center. Shannon feels that at this time, her goals in veterinary medicine have been achieved, but she might decide to pursue teaching down the line.
In Shannon's downtime, she loves to read and sew, as well as spend time with her many pets: Gulliver (Shetland sheepdog), Zoe (dachshund), Poe (pug), Joie (beagle mix), Cooper (Ragdoll), Jeffrey (domestic shorthair) and Sterling (African Grey Parrot).
