Dr. Emma Cushing has been a veterinarian at VCA South Arundel Animal Hospital since February 2026.
She grew up just outside of Kansas City, Missouri, with her family and many beloved pets. Inspired by her love of animals, she began working at a rural veterinary clinic in high school and continued through her undergraduate studies before being accepted into veterinary school.
Dr. Cushing earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2025 through the University of Alaska Fairbanks/Colorado State University Collaborative Veterinary Program. During her time at Colorado State University, she was honored with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Certificate of Clinical Excellence.
Following graduation, Dr. Cushing worked at a feline and exotics clinic in Washington state while her husband was stationed there with the U.S. Army. She soon after relocated to Maryland, where she now resides with her husband and their cat, Galli, and dog, Bear.
In her free time, Dr. Cushing enjoys relaxing with her cat, snowboarding, reading, watching sports, and exploring the East Coast!
