Dr. Adam Gonzales grew up in Massachusetts and has lived in Reno for over twenty years. You might also recognize him from our sister hospital, VCA Lakeside Animal Hospital, which he transferred from in September 2025.
Dr. Adam Gonzales was inspired to become a veterinarian at a young age, specifically in the third grade. Dr. Gonzalez had a guinea pig that had gotten very sick. His family took his guinea pig to a veterinarian who helped them get better. Dr. Gonzales remembers how happy and relieved he was, and decided that he wanted to dedicate himself to giving other people the same feeling.
With his goal in mind, Dr. Gonzales earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He went on to study at Purdue University in Indiana, where he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Gonzales began practicing in Reno, Nevada, in 2004 with the intent to keep increasing his veterinary skills and knowledge to better serve pets and people in Northern Nevada.
Dr. Gonzales is passionate about dentistry, wellness, and preventive medicine. He finds that it is exciting when small changes make a big impact on the health and longevity of a pet. Dr. Gonzales is passionate about supporting the human-animal bond through all stages of life and helping them live their happiest life, from their first visit all the way to navigating their end-of-life care.
Dr. Gonzalez is a major hardcore foodie! He loves cooking Asian food, barbecue and crafting artisan pizzas at home. At home, he has several chickens who are more like pets than poultry. Dr. Gonzalez also enjoys studying Christian theology and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
